Gerald R. Ralph B.Sc.(Hons),LL.B

Gerald truly is a native of Newfoundland and Labrador; anything more specific would be inaccurate. Gerald has lived in Labrador City, St. Anthony, Grand Falls-Windsor, Gander, Clarenville, and St. John’s. Gerald obtained an Honors Science Degree in Environmental Science from Carlton University in Ottawa, and after teaching a Tags retraining project, obtained Marine Law and Environmental Law Specialization in his Law Degree from Dalhousie University. Gerald Articled with and practiced for the first two (2) years of his career with the Law Firm, Patterson Palmer in St. John’s. Gerald gained experience in a full range of practice areas, including individual corporate and government clients, with a particular focus on Insurance and Construction Law and Litigation, personal legal services of Real Estate and Wills and Estates. Gerald was employed as a Solicitor with the Newfoundland and Labrador Court of Appeal between 2002 and 2004, where he researched and wrote opinions on complex areas of law for the Justices of that Court. Gerald commenced employment with the Government Nunavut in May, 2004 and led the legislative review process towards a new Nunavut Public Service Act which governs the terms and conditions of employment, collective bargaining rights, and all other employment aspects for the Territory’s Public Servants. Gerald was called to the Newfoundland and Labrador Bar in 2001 and was called to the Nunavut Bar in 2005 after having obtained the highest mark in the exam’s history.

Gerald joined the Firm in July, 2006 and carries on a general practice with the Firm but is developing a significant practice in the following three (3) areas:
• Arbitration and Litigation;
• Criminal and Fisheries Defence Work; and.
• Labor and Employment Law.

Gerald was noted in his High School Year Book as one of the most talkative and energetic members of his class. It’s funny how some things never change.
